Kenny Butler

Business Development Director

He has an Anglo-Gaelic name, an Irish-like dialect, but is Canadian-British! After studying at both the University of Newfoundland and Kings College London, Kenny qualified in 1995 from the University of Manchester and for the remainder of the nineties worked in leading hospitals and private clinics in Canada and the USA.
In 2001, he moved back to London, a city he loves so much and founded Back in Action UK.
Kenny divides his time between his clinical case load at our Westminster clinic and his role as Business Development Director for the company. He has undertaken extensive post-graduate education in occupational health and spinal manipulation.

Dan Franklin

Operations Director
Chartered & State Registered Physiotherapist
Dan graduated from Sydney University, Australia in 1997. After an initial period in a large Australian teaching hospital, Dan has worked in private practice in both Australia and the UK.
Dan’s principal specialty is the care of mainly City-based patients suffering back/neck pains typically originating from being ‘desk-bound’ all day. Dan’s additional specialty is the treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries. His extensive understanding of many sports, combined with his high standard of clinical skills, has resulted in him being extremely popular with many athletes in the City.
Dan divides his time between his clinical case load at our City of London Clinic and his role as Operations Director for the Back in Action.

Simon Mesner

Clinical Specialist, Chartered & State Registered Physiotherapist
Simon graduated from Kings College, London in August 1996 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy. Prior to that he studied Medicine for two years at St. George’s Hospital Medical School.
Following graduation, he worked at the Royal Free Hospital for two years before moving on to private practice. Here Simon worked for six years with a mixed case load including chronic pain patients, back and neck conditions, and sports injuries in amateur and professional athletes. He also gained his football UEFA B coaching badge in 2001.
Simon is a clinical specialist and has a special interest in human movement and active rehabilitation. He has completed his extended scope practitioner training in 2009 and is now studying for an MSc. in neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy – that is, he has an intimate understanding of nerve, muscle and bones and how they interact with each other.
Simon works full-time between our City of London and Tower Hill Clinics.

Phil Burton

Chartered & State Registered Physiotherapist
Originally from the north-east of England, Phil graduated with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree from Brunel University College in 1997.
He has worked extensively in the NHS and private practice in London, South Wales and Gloucestershire, and spent three seasons as physiotherapist/medical advisor for Newport Saracens Rugby Club.
His corporate experience outside his present work with Environmental Services includes the manufacturing sector, predominantly in South Wales, and recent in-house physiotherapy provision for the Royal Mail, the latter culminating with evidence demonstrating the effectiveness of in-house physiotherapy within a corporate environment.
Although Phil has undertaken widespread and varied post-graduate training, his clinical experience has led him to prefer a classic hands-on approach, tailoring the therapy to the individual and the particular mechanical stresses caused by daily life.
Phil works full-time across our on-site occupational health clinics.

Wendy Feltrup

Chartered & State Registered Physiotherapist
Wendy graduated from the University of Brighton in 1993 with a BSc.(Hons.) degree in physiotherapy. She has 14 years of broad experience in adult rehabilitation and has specialised in neuromusculoskeletal rehabilitation. Her interest in pain management and exercise therapy as well as manual therapy has led to a broad approach to treating musculoskeletal disorders.
She developed an interest in occupational health whilst on secondment to the Job Retention and Rehabilitation Pilot (Dep. Work and Pensions 2003-2005). During this time Wendy was convinced of the value of prompt, accessible on-site physiotherapy which enables practical problem-solving of health and work related issues. She is particularly interested in prevention of musculoskeletal disorders in the work place.
Wendy regularly maintains her professional development and in 2006 qualified for the Diploma in Injection Therapy. She is also involved in local strategies to improve health at work.
Wendy has practiced in New Zealand and UK in both NHS and private settings. Currently she balances her work at Back in Action Ltd., with work in Sheffield and South Yorkshire NHS Trusts.

Jemma Mack

Chartered & State Registered Physiotherapist
Jemma graduated from Southampton University in 1997 and worked in the NHS in Bournemouth until 2000 when she moved into private practice in London.
Jemma is our Ergonomic Physiotherapist. Her experience in ergonomics is deployed to address the problems of pain and posture associated typically with ‘desk-bound’ city employees. Jemma’s expertise with on-site assessments, postural correction, and hands-on treatment, has become much needed in the City.

Julia Peters

Chartered & State Registered Physiotherapist
Julia qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff in 2004 with a BSc(Hons) Physiotherapy degree. Following graduation, Julia worked at Barts and the Royal London NHS Trust. Here, before moving into private practice, she specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy; treating a mixed caseload of patients with both acute and chronic conditions in outpatients and orthopaedics, with gym-based rehabilitation, manual therapy, hydrotherapy and acupuncture.
Julia has several sporting interests including skiing, water sports, running and pilates which has led to an enthusiasm for treating sport related injuries, especially rugby. She has worked for the last four seasons for Belsize Park RFC as lead physiotherapist.

Mike Rayner

Chartered & State Registered Physiotherapist
Mike gained his Physiotherapy qualification through The SMAE Institute in March 2002. He then went on to gain his FA Diploma in the Treatment and Management of Sports Injuries in May 2004 and is presently studying for his Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine.
When not working for us, Mike is in his private practice in Bayswater or keeping AFC Wimbledon fit and healthy as the Physiotherapist for the first team squad.
Mike always places responsibility on the patient to speed up their recovery time by giving specific, graded exercises tailored to their condition. He believes it important to educate and empower the patient to achieve the very best long-term results.

Amy Williamson

Chartered & State Registered Physiotherapist
Amy graduated in 2004 from the University of Brighton with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy. Since graduating she has worked largely in the NHS both in the acute trust as well as in the community setting.
Amy has worked within the NHS setting, where she specialised in developing and working within supportive discharge care from hospital and rehabilitation in the community. In this role, she gaining a background in a variety of conditions including complex chronic pathology, neurological and musculo-skeletal conditions.
Within the private setting, Amy’s experience includes: treating sporting injuries including physiotherapy for rugby and hockey clubs; treating injuries associated with work postures e.g. prolonged computer work; as well as occupational physiotherapy within a manual worker setting.
Amy works full time between providing on-site occupational physiotherapy for our corporate clients, and individual private care to the clients of our Holborn Practice.
